Invalid traffic (IVT)
Invalid traffic is ad impressions and clicks that do not come from genuine human interest, from bots to accidental clicks.
The Media Rating Council splits it into general invalid traffic, such as known crawlers, which filters catch easily, and sophisticated invalid traffic built to look human.
Advertisers pay for it unless it is caught. Judging a placement by visits that went on to do something is the most robust defence.
