Programmatic advertising
Programmatic advertising is the automated buying and selling of ad space by software, usually through real-time auctions.
Instead of negotiating with each publisher, an advertiser sets budgets and targeting in a demand-side platform, which bids on impressions across thousands of sites.
The trade-off is reach for visibility: you rarely know exactly where an ad ran, and fees are taken at several steps between your budget and the publisher.
